Art and Doodles

Lubins et Lupins

This is one of my favourite illustrations by Maurice Sand, son of french author George Sand. I went to visit his house in France (now a museum), and his illustrations made a great impression on me. I love this one of the werewolves, it’s so haunting. He also made puppets!

Snook

I’m not sure why I’ve called this (Eeyore like) toy a Snook, but that’s the word that came to mind.

Art Nouveau Fox

Here’s a sketch I did of quite  a distinguished fox, in an art nouveau style!

Circus

This is my attempt at a horse pattern, it was a good exercise in drawing horses! Their not a flexible as foxes, so it wasn’t easy… but I think it works ok?

Snippet from my sketch book 2

Here is another page from my sketch book, I like the thin pages, being able to see the writing from the other side.

Snippet from my sketch book

I always find it really interesting to see what people are doing in their sketch books, it’s exciting to see how artworks develop, and I even sometimes prefer the initial sketches to the finished artwork. So I thought I would share some pages out of my sketch book (even though I find it a bit embarrassing). Here you have a scribbled idea of a story and a funny looking rabbit.

Colour Bunny Pattern

Here I have added some colour to the pattern, but personally I prefer it without colour…

Bunny Pattern

Here’s a pattern made of bunnies! I have a coloured in version too, but I think I prefer this one. It looks cleaner and more graphic. I think I’m going to do more patterns like this with lots of different animals, so If you have an animal in mind let me know!

Colourful Arthur

Pink Wolf Detail

I was just playing around with some of my images, and I thought this detail of my wolf screenprint was quite interesting up close!
